Washington Road Sidewalks Project
In order to facilitate safer and more efficient pedestrian movements along city streets, the City of East Point has approved new sidewalks along Washington Rd. This project will consist of constructing and repairing sidewalks, ADA ramps, curb and gutter in certain sections in accordance to the plans, and minor road widening. This work will require traffic control including single lane closures at certain times throughout the project, but the road will always remain open for traffic.
The construction for this project will begin around July 8, 2021 and will be substantially completed within 365 days. The hours will be Monday thru Friday 8-5 PM. If you are within the active work zone limits and park your car in your driveway at night, please be sure to move it prior to the 8:00 AM start time.
DAF Concrete, Inc will be the contractors completing the work. During this phase of the project it may be necessary for the contractor to enter your property in order to construct the sidewalks, however the sidewalk will be constructed entirely within the city’s right of way. Driveway apron will also be replaced within the rights of way. In the instance a property has multiple driveways, the City may make the determination to consolidate into one single driveway access point.
You will begin to see utility companies painting the streets and sidewalks and putting little flags
in your yard. Please do not remove or alter these marks for the duration of the project. Please have any materials, landscaping, vehicles, satellite dishes, etc. removed from the right of way and street adjacent to the right of way in order to allow the construction crews to install the sidewalks.
Please note that mailboxes in the path of the new sidewalk will be reset within the new sidewalk area. If residents would like to purchase new mailboxes our contractors can install them during construction. At the conclusion of the curb work, we will restore the area behind the curb including lawn restoration.
