The City of East Point is saddened by the passing of former Fulton County School Board member Catherine Maddox. Mrs. Maddox was a member on the Fulton County School Board for 10 years, representing parts of East Point, College Park, and Union City. She served as chair of the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and as legislative chair of the South Fulton Council of PTAs as well as the Fulton County Curriculum Advisory Board. She was also a member of the Fulton County Schools Discipline Review Committee and the United States Justice Department – Fulton Community School Advisory Committee. She retired from the Fulton County School Board in May 2017.
Mrs. Catherine Maddox was an East Point resident for more than 25 years. In addition to serving as our school board member, she was a founding member of the Mayor’s Educational Task Force and was a member of the East Point Youth Council Advisory Board and Ethics Board. She was also a member of the East Point Business Association, a member of the Concerned Citizens and Clergy of East Point as well as the East Point Historical Society.
The wake for Mrs. Catherine Maddox will be held today, Monday, June 25, 2018, from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Chapel of Gus Thornhill’s Funeral Home, 1315 Gus Thornhill Jr., Drive, East Point, Georgia 30344.
The funeral will be held on tomorrow, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 1:00 PM at Jehovah Baptist Church, 4499 Pine Lake Road, West Point, Georgia 31833
