The EMS/Training Chief is responsible for both Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Training. The main responsibility in this division is to provide standards and training and to ensure that all citizens of East Point receive the highest level of professionalism and standard of care. This division is also responsible for the safety of firefighters while performing job duties in emergency situations.
Firefighters Education & Instruction
The training division coordinates and networks with other outside agencies bringing in the latest and most experienced instructors to educate the firefighters. The training division ensures that firefighters comply with all state and national standards for fire and emergency medical services.
Certified Fire Personnel
The East Point Fire Department, mandated by the State Standards and Training Council, ensures all certified fire personnel complete the required 24 hours of continuing education training annually to maintain firefighter certification.
In addition to the 24 hours of continuing education, all firefighters must complete over 30 practical skills evaluations on firefighter tasks and duties to maintain certification. The fire department completed more than 20,000 total training hours, which is up significantly from the previous year.
