Deputy City Manager
Deron King is the Deputy City Manager for the City of East Point. In his capacity of Deputy City Manager, King works with the City Manager and Department Heads in coordinating, planning and implementing programs. In the absence of the City Manager, King is responsible for directing the overall operations of the City.
Prior to joining the City of East Point, King served as a City Manager for several cities within the State of Georgia. As City Manager for the cities of Stone Mountain, Forsyth and Waycross, Georgia, he was responsible for overseeing and directing the overall operations.
Prior to entering City Management, King served as the Chief of Staff to a Fulton County, Georgia Commissioner. He also served as a Planner for the Fulton County Government in which among his various responsibilities included providing zoning recommendations to the County Board of Commissioners for proposed residential and commercial projects.
Mr. King also served as a City Planner for the City of Chicago, Illinois and was responsible for providing program monitoring for the city’s neighborhood infrastructure projects. He was also in charge of the coordination and development of intergovernmental agreements between the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago. Mr. King has also previously owned a residential investment company having rehabilitated single family homes within several communities.
King holds a Master of Public Administration Degree from Clark Atlanta University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of Iowa. He is married and the father of two daughters.
