Film & Entertainment
The film industry has established its roots in South Metro, and is having a major economic impact on the Region, including the City of East Point, and the surrounding area. In fact, East Point proudly holds the distinction as one of Fulton County’s “Camera Ready” communities, a special designation given by the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office (FMDE).
The City is well-positioned for future projects due to plans by film mogul, Tyler Perry, to redevelop 330 acres of the old Fort McPherson U.S. Army base, and build a massive, 16 sound stage studio lot.
Georgia ranks third in the U.S. for feature film production ahead of New York. Since the current version of the Film Tax Credit HB1100 went into effect in 2008, it has grown to a billion-dollar industry creating thousands of jobs for Georgians.
